Installing and Removing TabletWorks in Windows 95/NT

1.  Installing the TabletWorks driver.

NOTE:  If you are installing from a CD-ROM, skip to step B.

A. Installing a downloaded driver.

1. Click on the "Start" button.
2. Click on the "Run" option.
3. In the command line box, type the path of the driver and click "OK".

   Example:  C:\windows\temp\tw95v51.exe

4. Go to section C.


B. Installing from a CD-ROM.

1. Double-click the "My Computer" icon.
2. Double-click the "CD-ROM" icon.
3. Double-click the "Startme" icon.
4. Go to section C.


C. Driver installation.

1. Click on "Setup".
2. Click on "Install".
3. Select the brand of tablet you have (CalComp or Summagraphics).

NOTE:  If you are using a Summagraphics tablet, you will be prompted for the following:

       Tablet Model
       COM port
       Pointing Device
       Operating Mode
      
NOTE:  UIOF will be the default operating mode for most Summagraphics tablets.

4. You will be asked where you would like the driver to be installed on your system.   C:\windows\CalComp is the default.

5. After the files have been copied to your system, you will be prompted to restart your computer.

NOTE:  For the CalComp Legacy tablets listed below, do not restart your system immediately.  Go to section D.

       Wiz     25xxx     23xxx(DrawingBoard)
       91xxx   95xxx    Notepad

NOTE:  If you choose to restart your computer immediately a temporary file will be left on your computer in the c:\windows\temp directory.
      
Example:  C:\windows\temp\WZS*.TMP

       If you elect not to restart immediately, the temporary file will be deleted automatically.  You will then have to restart
       your computer manually.


D.  CalComp Legacy Tablets

1.  If you have not restarted your system after installing the driver, follow steps c through h below.

2.  If you did restart your system after installing the driver, follow steps a through h below.

       a.  When the computer restarts, you will see the following error message on the screen:

           cc95drv

           Calcomp Driver could not find tablet! ...

           Press any key to continue

       b.  Press any key to continue booting into Windows95/NT

       c.  Double-click on the TabletWorks Control Panel icon.  The following message will appear:

           Wintab™ support not found or imcompatible.
           Related parameters will not be available for modification by the user.

       d.  Click the "OK" button, The TabletWorks Control Panel will appear.

       e.  Click on the "Settings" tab.

       f.  Under "Driver Configuration": Click the drop down box and select the COM port to which the tablet is connected.
          (When this is done, the "Enable Legacy Tablet Support" checkbox will automatically be selected.  DO NOT
          DESELECT THIS CHECKBOX!! Deselecting this checkbox could cause permanent damage to your tabet.)
      
       g.  Click "OK". The following message will appear:

           Modified driver settings will become effective during the next system reboot.

       h.  Click "OK" and restart your computer.

6.  When the computer restarts, the digitizer will be working as a mouse on the Windows95/NT desktop.



2.  Removing the TabletWorks drivers.

A.  Automatic removal using a downloaded driver.

1.  Click on the "Start" button.
2.  Select the "Run" option.
3.  Type the name and path of the downloaded file on the command line.

    Example:  c:\temp\tw95v51.exe

4.  Click on "Setup".
5.  Click on "Remove".

The drivers will be removed from your computer and you will be prompted to reboot to complete the uninstall process.


B.  Automatic removal using the TabletWorks CD-ROM

1. Double-click the "My Computer" icon.
2. Double-click the "CD-ROM" icon.
3. Double-click the "Startme" icon.
4. Click on "Remove".

The drivers will be removed from your computer and you will be prompted to reboot to complete the uninstall process.


C.  Manually Removing the TabletWorks drivers from Windows95

1.  From a DOS prompt, type the following commands:

    deltree c:\windows\calcomp
    deltree c:\windows\startm~1\programs\calcomp (CalComp tablets only)
    deltree c:\windows\startm~1\programs\summag~1 (Summagraphics tablets only)
    del c:\windows\system\ccpan32.cpl
    del c:\windows\system\ccwt95.drv
    del c:\windows\system\ccwtup32.dll
    del c:\windows\system\cc95drv.vxd (CalComp tablets only)
    del c:\windows\system\sg95drv.vxd (Summagraphics tablets only)
    del c:\windows\system\wintab.dll
    del c:\windows\system\wintab32.dll
    deltree c:\windows\temp\wzs*.tmp
   
2.  Open the Registry editor.
 
    Click on the "Start" button, select the "Run" option, type "regedit" on the command line, and press "Enter".

    Open the following key in the Registry:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
        SOFTWARE
           CALCOMP
   
    Delete the CALCOMP key from the registry.

    Open the following key in the Registry:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
        SYSTEM
           CURRENTCONTROLSET
               SERVICES
                   VXD
                     CC95DRV (CalComp tablets only)
                     SG95DRV (Summagraphics tablets only)

    Delete the CC95DRV key from the Registry (CalComp tablets only)
    Delete the SG95DRV key from the Registry (Summagraphics tablets only)


D.  Manually Removing the TabletWorks drivers from WindowsNT

1.  From a DOS prompt, type the following commands:

    deltree c:\winnt\calcomp
    deltree c:\winnt\startm~1\programs\calcomp (CalComp tablets only)
    deltree c:\winnt\startm~1\programs\summag~1 (Summagraphics tablets only)
    del c:\winnt\system32\ccpan32.cpl
    del c:\winnt\system32\ccwt95.drv
    del c:\winnt\system32\ccwtup32.dll
    del c:\winnt\system32\cc95drv.vxd (CalComp tablets only)
    del c:\winnt\system32\sg95drv.vxd (Summagraphics tablets only)
    del c:\winnt\system32\wintab.dll
    del c:\winnt\system32\wintab32.dll
    deltree c:\winnt\temp\wzs*.tmp
   
2.  Open the Registry editor.
 
    Click on the "Start" button, select the "Run" option, type "regedt32" on the command line, and press "Enter".

    Open the following key in the Registry:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
        SOFTWARE
           CALCOMP
   
    Delete the CALCOMP key from the registry.

    Open the following key in the Registry:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
        SYSTEM
           CURRENTCONTROLSET
               SERVICES
                   CC95DRV (SG95DRV for summagraphics tablets)

    Delete the CC95DRV key from the Registry (CalComp tablets only)
    Delete the SG95DRV key from the Registry (Summagraphics tablets only)
