GTCO CalComp
Products Now
Meet RoHS and WEEE Requirements
All
standard digitizer products and procedures updated to
comply with the RoHS and WEEE
directives.
Columbia, MD – July 1, 2007 – GTCO CalComp has
updated the design and manufacture of all standard digitizer products to
comply with the Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS)
2002/95/EC. This directive restricts the use of six hazardous materials
in the manufacture of various types of electronic and electrical
equipment. It is closely linked with the Waste Electrical and Electronic
Equipment Directive (WEEE) 2002/96/EC which sets collection, recycling
and recovery targets for electrical goods, and
is part of a legislative initiative to solve the problem of huge amounts
of toxic e-waste. All new standard GTCO
CalComp digitizing products now meet the
restriction on the use of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium,
polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE)
flame retardants.
GTCO CalComp has also established the necessary procedures to comply
with the European Community Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment
Directive (WEEE) 2002/96/EC. GTCO CalComp is proud of
their compliance to the RoHS and WEEE directives and is working
diligently to ensure their products meet and
exceed environmental regulations around the world. Other countries,
including the United States, are in the process of adopting similar
requirements, so it is only a matter of time
before RoHS and WEEE requirements are universal.
